Thanksgiving.

Is awesome. But I have shamed all lesbians (in theory) by not being in possession of a turkey baster. This is both upsetting and uplifting, mainly because I’m fitting into one less stereotype. Winning.

“There are people who have said that I’m being brave for being openly supportive of gay marriage, gay adoption, basically of gay rights but with all due respect I humbly dissent, I’m not being brave, I’m being a decent human being. And I don’t think I should receive an award for that or for merely stating what I believe to be true, that love is a human experience not a political statement. However, I acknowledge that sadly we live in a world where not everybody feels the same. My family and I will help the good fight continue until that long awaited moment arrives, when our rights are equal and when the political limits on love have been smashed.”- Anne Hathaway

You’re on my brain and Tumblr makes it official, Occupy Oakland.

Scenes From #OccupyOakland today and tonight.

Police not only tore down the Occupy camp in a pre-dawn raid but they have fired 5 rounds of tear gas and have used flash grenades and rubber bullets throughout the night.

The police have claimed that grenades were not used nor were rubber bullets and that the protesters threw rocks at them which caused them to attack. We’ll see what lies they make up in the morning.

Dear Oakland PD:

Tear gas, rubber bullets, and SWAT gear DO NOT solve problems. Instilling fear, is not resolving the disconnect we experience in our communities. Outnumbering and dismantling a peaceful protest, with destructive force is not going to slow down the spread of disgust among the citizens of cities participating in occupations. Police officers, are not the problem, they are merely a catalyst between us and the 1% running the game from their home office.

To those of you who don’t know; learn about it. These occupations are country-wide, they are peaceful, productive, and insightful.

To those of you who do know; stay strong, and don’t let this be the a burden that weighs you down, but one worth bearing in an effort to change the way things work. Know that as word spreads, support grows, and this is just the beginning. Most importantly, stay safe. Anger is what they want, work smarter, not harder.

Everyone out there continuing to march and occupy Oakland and the rest of the country right now are my heroes, plain and simple. This is not, and should not become a war of force against the people.

just a moment to be romantic

It’s been a while, and I’ve been thinking. Thinking of my wants and needs, the momentary gratification of getting those wants taken care of, while the lack of needmeeting rests on the wayside. I’ve been thinking on love.

I want to love a good woman…Is that too much to ask? While love is only a word, and people are people, there is something about the selfishness of being comfortable that I miss, but can’t be quite sure where I left it.

I want a woman who; has fears, baggage, and the maturity to face them, grow beyond them, who wont sacrifice her friends for me, but keep them close, who wont choose me over her family, but instead, learn to integrate, someone who knows that ice cream and baked goods ARE a meal, someone that can live just fine without me, but would rather not.

I don’t need perfect, flaws are the facts of life.
